Location : Leaned on the Roche Méane, separated from Roche Faurio by the valley of the glacier of plate des Agneaux, the Planchard Adele hut stands opposite to the barre des Ecrins.

All The summits of the Grande Ruine, that dominate the Adèle Planchard hut, all rise more than 3600m above sea level. The Breevort peak, top of the Grande Ruine at 3765 m, is a 360° lookout to the heart of the Massif de l’Oisans, with to the north the Meije’south face and to the south the Barre des Ecrins. Access to the Refuge Adèle Planchard

Pedestrian access From the parking of pont d’Arsine, in the village of Villar d’Arène. (La Grave) GPS Coordinates : Long : 06 ° 21’49 "E / lat : 45 ° 01’49" N / Topographic Map IGN 3436ET Meije.Pelvoux TOP25 As soon as you leave the parking lot you follow the Ecrins National Park boundary ! A marked trail guides you through the l’Alpe de Villar d’Arène, on the right side of the Romanche river (when look down). You do not cross the river before the path continues along the moraine of the Glacier de la Plate des Agneaux : the source of the Romanche river. then You will leave the moraine and hike up, the refuge is still not visible from the path. What A great surprise to find the refuge in the curve of the trail, perched on its rocky promontory facing the Barre des Ecrins. You have reached the high mountain through a pastoral area without the need of technical equipment. Remember to check the conditions some snow patch may last for a while.
